One of the principle tourist sites in Valencia, the The late Gothic-style civil building of La Llonga (The Silk Exchange), was built between 1482 and 1583.
It was declared a National Historic and Artistic Monument in July1931 and was made a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in December 1996.
The group of buildings was originally used for trading silk and was something of a secret society - no written records exist of any meetings.
